Hey! How are you doing?
I am sure most of you by now know that I am a make up hoarder.I do buy a lot of make up mostly on a budget but I also have a good amount of high end products in my collection. To be completely honest, any product above INR 500, I will think about properly and buy. Obviously, my expectations with high end make up is extremely high. I mean come on, if I am putting so much money into a single product, it better work! Here are 5 make up products from high end brands that I absolutely regret buying.
1. CLINIQUE CHUBBY STICK FOUNDATION – INR 2,200/-
This product has such amazing reviews online but it just really did not work for me. This is the ‘Clinique chubby in the nude foundation stick’ in the shade 08 – grandest golden neutral. The main reason I despise this product that it isn’t creamy so it never blends right. I have tried using this with a beauty blender (wet and dry), a densely packed brush, even mixing it with oils doesn’t help! The product separates on the skin if you use water or oils and exaggerates fine lines. Considering I have oily skin this would be perfect to sit on the skin, but this is too hard to blend. You get about 6gms of product and I also don’t like the smell.
Here you can see how it doesn’t fill the fine lines on my hand and doesn’t sit well
2. MAC MODERN TWIST KAJAL LINER – INR 990/-
Honestly, MAC is one of those make up brands that all make up lovers adore! All the products in their collection are extremely expensive and of a great quality as well. I’ve always wanted a MAC product in my collection and I was shopping online so I thought a kajal would be my safest bet. This is the ‘MAC Modern Twist Kajal Liner’ in the shade Squid. This product comes in a twist up pen which is amazing but once you twist it up, you can’t twist it back in. The product does not stay on my waterline for even 30 minutes. It smudges way too much if used as an eyeliner, in short, not worth the money. The pigmentation also is not great, you can see it in the image below.
one swipe v/s 5 swipes
3. CLINIQUE HIGH IMPACT EXTREME VOLUME MASCARA – INR 2,150/-
Honestly, this mascara is not that bad and I don’t hate it at all. The problem with this is that it has a very fat wand and the bristles are too long. I have really tiny eyes and sparse lashes so it is difficult to apply an even coat on all lashes, especially the inner corner. This mascara is also not water proof, so it is okay for every day use. I guess the formula is pretty nice because it doesn’t flake at all but the wand is terrible. The wand was initially green, it has become black due to the usage.
4. SEPHORA COLORFUL FACE BLUSH – INR 1,170/-
This is the ‘Sephora Colorful Face Powder Blush’ in the shade Hey Jealousy. This is a very pretty color but it doesn’t last on the face for more than 2 – 3 hours. This product is only in the list because of the longevity factor. The product is a little over pigmented as well so you need to be careful when you take it on your brush.
5. SEPHORA COLORFUL EYE SHADOW – INR 1,270/-
This small pan is the Sephora Colorful Eye Shadow in the shade Starry Night. It is a gun metallic shade with chunks of silver glitter in it. The only problem with this product is that it is very unevenly pigmented, so you need to pack it properly on your lids slowly. It works better when you pick it up with a wet brush. Also, well it is too much money for one tiny pan in my opinion.
There is no hate towards any of the brands mentioned here. These brands make some amazing products, these are just some items that I personally didn’t like. Of course, the products that didn’t work out for me might work out for you. The prices mentioned here are what’s mentioned on the websites where these products are sold.
This was my first time doing such a post, I hope you like it. Do let me know if there are any other products that you would want me to review.
Until next time, Aashi Adani!
